Diving, Diving, and Diving !!

The weather has finally improved and summer has finally arrived. Matthew and Shoshi are both on the diving team at our swim club. They have practice every morning at 10:00 (thankfully it is not too early). Meets are typically Saturdays and Wednesdays. They have both been doing really well. This keeps us fairly busy as we also usually head to the swim club in the afternoon so they can swim and practice some more.

We did head to the shore on June 20th after the dive meet and stayed until the 21st. We celebrated Father's Day there but we never did see the beach...the weather just did not cooperate. I am not sure when we will head back again but we will find a time.

Our weekends are full of fun things... it seems every summer weekend is already planned but we are looking forward to each one.

Happy 15th Anniversary !!

What a nice couple days. Yesterday was Rick's birthday and I thought we wouldn't be able to celebrate much because Matthew had a baseball game and Shoshi had a birthday party. It turned out Matthew was playing Brett's team. I called Lauren and asked if they would have pizza with us at the field... she made great cupcakes and we had a little sideline party while watching the game. After the game Rick was throwing the ball around with Brett and Matthew... then Missy and Andrew showed up with yummy homemade peanut butter cookies. Andrew joined in the fun while all us moms just sat around talking. It ended up being a really nice evening. Lauren went to pick the girls up from the party just as dusk was setting in. Rick said he had a nice birthday so that is all that really matters.

Today was our 15th wedding anniversary. Rick surprised me with a beautiful necklace... pearl, diamond, and pink sapphire. It is beautiful. I gave him an altimeter watch/compass on a carabiner that he can use for skiing, hiking, etc. and also some clothes. He seems to like everything. The kids wanted to join us for our anniversary dinner. We went to Scoogi's and it was really yummy. We used to go there more often but I guess that was before kids. We had a really nice evening with lots of good food.

Life is good !!

Strawberries and the Circus !!

It was a full day. In the morning the kids and I went strawberry picking. Matthew had been wanting to go and we drove past a farm the night before that had a sign for strawberry picking. It was a lot of fun. Both kids loved picking and eating the strawberries. Matthew even said he was full. They filled 9 pints of strawberries... we will be doing some cooking this week : ).
In the evening we picked up Gigi and then headed to Cracker Barrel for dinner and then to the Lu Lu Shrine Circus. We all had a great time. It was beautiful outside and the circus was very entertaining !!

The sun is back !!

After 3 days of rain we finally got to see the sun again. We had a nice relaxing morning. I slept until 9:00... that almost never happens... the kids are always quiet but the dog usually wakes up early. Today was an exception to the rule and we had a nice quiet morning. The kids didn't even eat breakfast until 11:00. We took the dog for a walk and checked out some yard sales in the neighborhood... didn't buy anything. We ordered in hoagies for lunch... that way we could eat half of our hoagies for lunch and the other half for dinner. We headed to Matthew's game at 2:30. He played awesome !! He had 2 doubles and his team won 17-8... a great way to start the playoffs. Then we headed over to Tanner's for a geocaching event. I grew up getting ice cream at Tanner's so it is always fun to go back. We ate our hoagies in the car on the way there and then were all ready for ice cream when we arrived. I love the fact that for $2 you get a huge amount of ice cream that is almost too much to eat (we did each manage to finish ours though). We had a great time hanging in the parking lot with all our friends. We learned that if you whistle through grass the cows will come over to the fence... so we also had fun hanging out with the cows. It was a great day and we all enjoyed !!

Shoshi is 9 years old. She is just finishing up 3rd grade. She does great in school and she has a lot of friends. She loves art, tae-kwon-do, and diving. She is a girly-girl and loves to shop. She loves American Girl dolls and webkinz. She can play for hours and hours by herself. She is fun to be around and it is very entertaining to listen to her play and talk to her dolls and friends. She is our pretty princess and she lights up our world with her smile.

Matthew is 12 years old. He is just finishing 6th grade... his first year of middle school is just about complete. He is a great student who does extremely well in school. He is well-liked by teachers and students. He loves baseball, tae-kwon-do, diving, and computers. He comes up with great ideas for family trips and loves spending time with family (if we could only get him to stop fighting with his sister we would be all set : ) ). Starting in March of 2007 until February of 2008 Matthew was not feeling well. He went through many tests and finally in February of 2008 Matthew was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He takes many pills each and every day and by the fall of 2008 Matthew was starting to feel better. He is now still taking many pills each day but he is doing great... plenty of energy and looking and feeling great. Matthew is the light of our lives and we love just having him HERE. It will be a busy year for him as he is studying and preparing for his Bar Mitzvah in December of 2009.

The Beginning

I follow so many blogs that I thought it was time to create my own. You can follow our lives... sometimes exciting, sometimes boring... as we make our way through with 2 great kids. I will make some introductions in the next few posts so you can learn all about us. I am not sure how good I will be at this but I am hoping it will be a nice documentation of our lives for many years to come. Enjoy !!
